Instead of watching Eurovision this year…
maybe I can interest you in Hataris Documentary named „A song called hate“.
It features 2019s Icelandic contestants „Hatari“ on their journey to protest against the treatment of Palestinians in Isreal, using Eurovision as a stage to share an important message.
In their documentary, they shed light on what „Hatari“ is, their intentions and ways to support Palestinians, their experiences in Israel, their interviews of Palestinian civilians and artists and what followed after they raised the Palestinian flag during Eurovision in Israel.
Famously known as this scene:
You can find A song called hate here:
Please share so more people know!!

I will not be posting about or watching Eurovision this year.
As an avid fan this sucks, but there are more important things right now. My values and morals are too important to me to support EBUs decision not to ban Israel from Eurovision.

The best thing in this year's Eurovision is witnessing the meltdown people have over Ireland and Finland's entries.
Bambie and Windows95man came to slay and y'all just have to deal with it 💅

Absolutely!
Back in 2022 the EBU was originally gonna allow Russia to participate on the basis that the Eurovision "Is not a political contest" even though it very much is.
Ukraine initially protested this but they, still, didn't budge.
Only after Finland, Estonia and Iceland threatened to withdraw (I think it was these three) and only then did the EBU decide to suspend Russia on the basis that their broadcaster was spreading misinformation and propaganda regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The official statement given was not that they had an issue with one of the contestants actively invading another, rather that they weren't being honest about it.
It's worth noting that each country has to pay a participation fee based on their population. In other words, a country like Poland is not paying the same amount of money as a country like San Marino. You can therefore see why the EBU did not want to lose Russia. If one country with large population leaves that means the participation cost for the remaining ones will rise. In fact, Russia's expulsion has inadvertently caused Bulgaria's, North Macedonia's and Montenegro's withdrawal as they could no longer afford the participation fee. This year, Romania, a country with a large population but facing financial difficulties is possibly also withdrawing. Their participation is still up in the air, well after the period to announce their participation has ended, and Australia also took quite a well to finalize negotiations for their participation.
Just like they did with Russia, the EBU has already announced that they do not intend to ban Israel and unless no other countries complain about it and threaten to withdraw, like Estonia, Finland and Iceland did before for Russia, they're gonna keep Israel around.
I'm not here to discuss who should be allowed in and who not, because if we start with Israel then we should also take Azerbaijan, Serbia and every single northwestern European country that retains colonies around the world out too, but my point is, if the EBU's official reasoning for expelling Belarus was that they were trying to send a propaganda song and for Russia was that their broadcaster was spreading propaganda, I don't see how Israel's broadcaster isn't doing the exact same thing about the ongoing situation in Palestine.

Flemish MP criticises Eurovision Song Contest for hypocrisy over Palestine ban: "How hypocritical is it, that israel today can simply participate in the Eurovison Song Contest while in the meantime in the same Eurovision Song Contest Palestinian flags and Palestinian keffiyahs are banned?
Well, I have a Palestinian keffiyah, and I wear it with great pride to show that we are for an end to that war, for an end to the genocide and for the ceasefire. And there are many of us in the world who want an end to the violence, no matter how much you keep trying. Free Palestine , Boycott Israel. "
Don't forget to boycott Eurovision completely - for allowing Israel to compete, as a comparison, they didn't let Russia compete when they began their war against Ukraine.
Israel is always treated as the exception. Don't let it be. Don't accept that.
It is antisimetic to conflate zionist Israel with Judaism.
Israel is a terrorist state currently engaging in a determined intentional genocide of Palestine, because they want Palestine for themselves. But it's not their country, nor are they a peaceful immigrant population. Real Jewish people have always lived in Palestine alongside Christian and Muslim Palestinians. Peacefully.
Israel is a terrorist state who illegally, and brutally occupies Palestine. Palestine must me decolonised to be properly liberated and safe.
Remember to boycott Eurovision to send the message that no, you can't commit a genocide and still be included in cultural events. Unfortunately Eurovision didn't stand up to them. So the viewers must. Tank the ratings. For Palestine 🇵🇸 ❤ 💖 💕 🍉 🫒 🕊

Time for a post Eurovision rant
Fuck the EBU for allowing a genocidal state to participate, fuck the production for covering the sounds of booing, whistling and "Free Palestine" chants (some still made it in, and whoever they came from, I love you ♥️), fuck them for forbidding *allegedly* all flags of countries not participating but in reality only the Palestinian one as I've seen flags of countries like Turkey, who is not participating, and they were apparently fine but a Palestinian flag no, fuck them for letting the Is*aeli journalists harass and follow Joost, Bambie, Marina etc., fuck them for allowing Is*ael to break rules by promoting the voting code of their own country (that shit was even on a Times Square screen I s2g), fuck them for unjustly disqualifying Joost, and fuck every jury and public voter who gave points and money to you-know-who!!!!
I am so fucking happy that a person who was outspoken against the genocide won!!
I am even happier for my country's representative Baby Lasagna winning the televote and coming in second place, giving us the best placement we've ever had. Proud of you, Marko ♥️🇭🇷
I applaud the Netherlands for refusing to give their jury vote, I applaud Alessandra Mele and Käärijä for stepping away from giving out the Norwegian and Finnish jury votes, I applaud Bambie, Nemo, Marina, Slimane, Iolanda, Joost, Olly, Fred Leone (not sure I named them all) who openly spoke out against the genocide and the EBU double standard bullshit.
I feel sorry for Angelina cause I think had RAI not fucked up with showing Italy giving 40% of semifinal votes to *redacted*, she would have been higher and deservedly above them
And I feel sorry for Petra Mede who, even tho she did an incredible job as always, looked like she was on the brink of vomiting for a good chunk of the show. If Sweden wins any time soon, I am pretty sure she will refuse to host again. Despite that, she still remains the inarguably best host of Eurovision.
I hope the contest goes on hiatus after this, cause I don't see how they could dig their way out of this shame. A contest made to unite a post-war Europe letting Israel, who is actively committing war crimes and who is responsible for the deaths of at least 30 000+ people in the last 7 months, participate is vile and hypocritical and just unacceptable
